  • 10/2/2002 - The demo of "You Know You're Right" has been leaked to radio stations across the country, its also available online thought many file sharing programs. The song isn't fully mixed and mastered, so when its finally released on CD it should sound better. I have tab and lyrics up for it.

6/28/2002 - The Smoking Gun has some CL/Nirvana lawsuit updates.
  • 5/13/2002 - Clips of "You Know You're Right" have been leaked accoring to Nirvana Club.
  • 4/27/2002 - The judge refused to have Love submit to psychiatric testing, not sure where the trial will go next...
  • 4/22/2002 - Well, now the members of Nirvana are suing Courtney, saying she is not mentally fit to co-run the bands legacy. A staff member of The Smoking Gun also sent in some info.

  • 2/22/2002 - Apparently some of Kurt's journals and other writings are being shopped to publishers by his family. Some of the material from these journals was used for last years book Heavier Than Heaven by Chrarles Cross. This new book will aparently be entirely based on the journals. More info available here.

  • 2/3/2002 - Krist novoselic has formed a new band, along with a member of the Meatpuppets and the former drummer from Sublime

  • 10/28/2001- Apparently the Clear Channel thing was blown out of proportion, the list was started independently by an employee of the company and wasn't company policy at any point.

  • 9/18/2001 - ClearChannel Communications, which owns over 1000 radion stations, has distributed a list of 'banned' songs that cannot be played on its stations, including every rage against the machine song and pretty mcuh anyhting that mentions war, death, or flying. This even includes anti-war songs like '99 Red Balloons'. Not to belittle what has happened in the past week, but this is rather excessive. I am especially bothered by them banning all rage songs, I'm not a big rage fan, but its basically is calling them a terrorist band, which they obvioisly are not.

  • 9/10/2001 - VH1 is doing a 'grunge' special Sept. 14th at 10pm, more info can be found here.

  • 9/3/2001 - The new album info has moved back to nirvanaclub.com, apparently the box set could be on hold until as late as 2002, when the court date has been set to.

  • 9/3/2001 - I added the Rolling Stone news box on the site. How does it look? Good? Bad? Tacky?.

  • 7/4/2001 - Courtney Love is involved in a legal dispute with Kirst Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Geffen records over the inclusion of the song "You Know You're Right" (also know as "On The Mountain" and "You Got No Right") on the upcoming Nirvana box set. Love is also involved in a legal dispute against Universal records claiming that the big 5 record companies are an illegal trust. More information about this can be found in the following two articles at Yahoo:

Courtney Love Sues Grohl And Novoselic, Blocks Nirvana Rarity
Nirvana Legal Battle: 120 Unreleased Tapes At Stake

I am unsure about what this will do to the release of the box set. I am sure most fans would be in agreement with me that we all are just waiting to hear more of the music we love and we wish all the legal wrangling would simply stop. I'm not pointing the finger at Love or the band members on this, I can't comment on who is right or wrong since I am just an ousider.

  • 7/4/2001 - The page listing news and rumors about Nirvana's new box set has moved from nirvanaclub.com to nfc47.webjump.com. Unfortunately the site hasn't been updated since April 30. I'm going to start posting any news items I see about the album on my site so please send me anything you might have.

  • I can't believe what someone just sent to me, why does Nirvana tend to bring all the assholes out against it?

With all due respect,Nirvana were nothing more than a rip-off of far
better, innovative British bands like The Who and Led Zeppelin.A whole web
site devoted to Nirvana without acknowledging this is like a web site
devoted to the development of popular music without mentioning The
Beatles. If Nirvana were not American they would not be revered like they
are.Surely music is worth more than nationalistic, inward looking arrogance.

So should I include a complete hostory of rock and roll, wait a minute, I mean all music on my site? Maybe I should trace everyone's influences back to Mozart and Bach. Theres plenty of info on other Nirvana sites that mentions bands that Kurt openly admitted they were strongly influenced by. The point is this is my Nirvana site and I can focus on whatever aspect of the band I feel like. And quite frankly, I feel they are a better band than The Who and the excesive guitar-soloing, full of them selves Led Zepplin. If you really knew anything about who Nirvana was influenced by, you'd also mention the Pixies (by far the biggest influence), Black Flag, Black Sabbath, The Clash and many more early punk/power rock bands who influenced Nirvana far more than the two bands you listed. But since some of those bands are in fact American bands, I guess it doesn't fit well with your flawed idea that I excluded them because I am so America-centric. And if you'd like to talk about arrogance, what about the arrogance of e-mailing a web site owner with this pointless e-mail just to make yourself feel like your own views on music are superior. Please, get a clue and leave me alone.

  • 9/21/2000 - I just added bass tab, feel free to send any corrections or changes.
  • 9/19/2000 - As you may have heard, the RIAA has posted a reward for anyone who can break their new music format called SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative). You may or may not have heard that many groups including the Electronic Frontier Foundation have called for a boycott of this contest, on the grounds that this software format restricts and could completely remove your fair-use rights (yes rights, you have certain rights that supercede copyrights). Please read more about this issue in the latest issue of the EFF Newsletter
  • 9/5/2000 - Top Ten Albums is having another vote this month for best live album, and Unplugged is again in the list. So feel free to head over there and support the band.
  • 8/18/2000 - Launch.com had some info on the Nirvana box set. Apparently it will be released in 2001 to commemorate the ten year aniversary of the release of Nevermind.
  • 8/12/2000 - Someone sent me a message that a radio station near Topeka, Kansas broadcast some info about the Nirvana box set, can anyone confirm this?
  • 8/7/2000 - The Happening Nirvana Site (happening.digitalnirvana.net) is down, and so are a bunch of the FAQ's I linked to. If anyone has copies, please let me know, I'd like to post a local copy. - Updated 9/19/2000 I fixed the broken links.
  • 7/28/2000 - Napster is shutting down their service because they cannot comply with a judge's order to filter out all copywritten material. I am against pirating released albums (bootlegs are another story), however the RIAA continues to gouge customers (14.99-18.99 for a CD that costs $2-5) and rip off the artists. There is an anti-RIAA site with a petition you can sign. Another anti-RIAA site lists all the members of the RIAA, so you can only support labels that are not members if you choose. For those of you who think that Napster greatly hurts the artists or that labels treat artists fairly, check out Steve Albini's and Courtney Love's views on the matter.
  • 6/3/2000 - Nirvana's Unplugged won for best live album at Top Ten Albums
  • 5/10/2000 - Top Ten Albums is having a vote this month for best live album, and Unplugged is included in the albums to choose from. So go show your support for Nirvana, unless of course you like one of the other 9 albums better, then show your support for that band.
  • 3/18/2000 - I've made some more updates to simplify navigation and help out users who came into the site outside of the frames. Let me know if I screwed up any links.
  • 1/14/2000 - I'd like to give a huge thanks to Katey of Grisette Designs for the complete overhaul and graphical design of the site.
  • 12/16/99 - A Chicago internet music zine called Nude As The News has done a top 100 albums of the 90's. In Utero took the #5 slot, and Unplugged was listed as well. Check it out, a nice site.
  • I've moved the site, I also changed the directory structure, so if there is a broken link or missing image let me know and I'll fix it as soon as possible.
  • 4/1/98 Whoo-hoo! I broke 100,000 visitors. Thanks everyone for coming to the site. I wish I knew who number 100,000 was.
  • 3/21/98 - I linked to an organization called "Rock Out Censorship". Check them out.
  • 1/24/98 - I've cleaned up all the dead links I could find. And I added some links to new info.
